Strategic Approach to Optimizing Zakat for Inclusive Poverty Alleviation in Indonesia

Abstract

This study discusses the role of zakat as a crucial instrument in the economic transformation of society within the context of Islam. The primary aim of this research is to analyze the potential of zakat in reducing poverty and empowering community economies, particularly through a theoretical literature approach. The method used is a literature review with a descriptive approach, supported by scholarly literature and secondary data from various online sources. The findings indicate that zakat, when managed effectively and transparently, can significantly contribute to the growth of small and micro enterprises and the reduction of social inequality. Furthermore, public awareness of zakat plays an important role in optimizing its function as a tool for economic empowerment. The implications of this study highlight the need for more innovative and systematic zakat policies to achieve sustainable economic development goals, particularly in the context of Indonesia.
