Focus and Scope

The Journal of Islamic Economics and Philanthropy (JIEP) is an international peer-reviewed academic journal dedicated to publishing high-quality scholarly research that advances the theoretical, empirical, and practical development of Islamic economics, business, finance, and social finance.

The journal provides an academic platform for researchers, scholars, and practitioners addressing contemporary issues in economic development, financial integration, business ethics, and philanthropic management from an Islamic perspective. JIEP welcomes original research articles and systematic literature reviews across the following primary focus areas:

  1. Theory and Practice of Islamic Philanthropy:Conceptual foundations, theological frameworks, operational models, and innovative practices of Zakat, Infaq, Sadaqah, Waqf, cash Waqf, and integrated social finance tools.
  2. Philanthropy in Islamic Economics:Wealth redistribution, poverty alleviation, income inequality reduction, social welfare, and economic empowerment through philanthropic mechanisms.
  3. Philanthropy in Islamic Finance:Integration of social finance with commercial finance, Sharia-compliant financial instruments, capital markets, Islamic fintech, microfinance, and value-based intermediation.
  4. Philanthropy in Islamic Society:Socio-economic resilience, community empowerment, social entrepreneurship, civil society engagement, and non-profit organization (NPO) management within contemporary Islamic societies.
  5. Philanthropy in Islamic Monetary Systems:Central banking policies, monetary stability, digital currency applications in philanthropy, and the macro-financial integration of social funds into national monetary frameworks.
  6. Philanthropy in Islamic Public Policy and Institutions:Governance, legal and regulatory frameworks, institutional management, public administration, and public policy integration for philanthropic and social finance institutions.
  7. Philanthropy in Islamic Business:Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in Sharia-compliant enterprises, ethical business models, corporate governance, halal industry integration, and value-driven business management.

JIEP also welcomes interdisciplinary research connecting Islamic economic and philanthropic principles with broader global challenges such as the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), digital transformation, and socio-economic resilience provided that the studies demonstrate a clear and substantive contribution to the core disciplines of Islamic economics, finance, business, or philanthropy.
